Daily Dose: The Innocence Mission, “The Brother Williams Said”
I return to this 2020 album, See You Tomorrow, every few months. I found it as I watched my health slip beyond my control and it’s kept me balanced, like I would imagine a hymnal helps the ecclesiastically faithful.
I suppose the more accurate phrasing of that sentence would be: this album found me in the thicket but it helps me see the forest for the trees.
Daily Dose: Eva Cassidy with the London Symphony Orchestra, “Tall Trees In Georgia”
Simply something exceptionally beautiful for your Sunday.
Daily Dose: Rose Cousins, “I Would Die 4 U”
Might be one of my favorite covers of all-time.
Daily Dose: Dina Ogon “Mormor”
Timeless. And, also, Swedish.
Daily Dose: Scott McMicken and THE EVER-EXPANDING, “What About Now”
Daily Dose: Marianne Faithfull, “The World Between”
Epic. Marianne Faithfull forever. Makes me want to go to Marianne’s to celebrate this queen immediately.
Daily Dose: Kali Uchis, “I Wish you Roses”
Happy V-Day, my loves.
Daily Dose: Nick Waterhouse, “Hide and Seek”
A San Francisco State alum who continues to turn out nostalgic hits. Also, very weird to see the scene that raised me discussed in this interview Waterhouse gave in 2017 spoken of as an historical epoch. And to totally agree with it.
Here I am, already history.
